External Rotation Recurvatum Test

Hold the femur down on the examination couch and lift the leg by the great toe. This will allow the tibia to externally rotate and  the lateral tibial plateau will sublux posteriorly. In a combined PCL/PCL injury there will be a significant amount of increased recurvatum and varus motion compared with the other side.
